During the Winter of 2016 the barrier to Hamworthy Park Car Park was removed on a trial basis.
This allowed the car park to be used by commuters working in the Quay area and allowed a car dealership to store cars. This led to a situation where sometimes there were few or no car parking spaces left for the general public to use on weekdays. Furthermore, we received ongoing complaints regarding late night antisocial behaviour in the car park from local residents.
Although all park users were affected over the year we received complaints from the following groups of residents:
- Parents who could not park within a reasonable walking distance of the school.
- Windsurfers who could not park to pursue watersports.
- Park volunteers
- Dog Walkers
- Parents wishing to use the playground with children
After a year of campaigning, supported by local residents with an e-petition in June 2017, the car park barrier will be reintroduced from midnight 10th December 2017 and opened at 08:15am daily. We’d like to thank the Borough of Poole and our local Councillors for their support in reaching a workable solution for our Community.
