The Friends of Hamworthy Park (FOHP) was formed in 1998 as a voluntary group of residents and became a charity in 2017.  Our aim is to preserve, promote and care for this beautiful park.

"FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF HAMWORTHY AND THE SURROUNDING AREA ("THE AREA OF BENEFIT") TO PROVIDE OR ASSIST IN THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES FOR RECREATION AND OTHER LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE INHABITANTS OF THE AREA OF BENEFIT IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY THE PRESERVATION, PROMOTION, SUPPORT, ASSISTANCE AND IMPROVEMENT OF HAMWORTHY PARK AND OTHER LOCAL OPEN SPACES."

A group meets every Wednesday morning to carry out ground maintenance, plant and maintain the flower beds in the park and keep the park clean and tidy. Volunteer.

In addition, various fundraising activities are organised throughout the year including a plant sale, produce sale and the summer Fete which brings together many local organisations with stalls and entertainment. Upcoming events.

Since spring of 2015, the Friends have been campaigning to keep the paddling pool in the park open. Working together with the council, this is currently the main focus of our efforts. Read more here.

To date, the Friends have raised a good deal of money towards the project, largely within the local community through collection tins and community events. A great big thank you to all our volunteers and to everyone who has donated to help keep this valuable community asset. Contact us.
