FoHP Achieve Charitable Status

After a tremendous amount of work over the last year, Friends of Hamworthy Park have achieved registered charity status. At a special meeting held on 23rd November 2017, the final formality of a vote enabled Friends of Hamworthy Park to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and this was unanimously agreed.

We are enormously proud of this achievement as this will allow us to apply for a whole host of Grants alongside the ability to claim Gift Aid on all donations (not just those received online). It will also potentially give us the opportunity to engage with new sponsors and local schemes. Our registration means that we have been rigorously vetted by the Charity Commissioners and they have ensured that Friends of Hamworthy Park is organisationally sound.

Our new Charity will continue the work of promoting, conserving and protecting Hamworthy Park and administer the existing funds, including the £19,000 raised towards the refurbishment of the paddling pool.

Our charitable aims are:

“For the benefit of the inhabitants of Hamworthy and the surrounding area to provide or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupation in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving their conditions of life for the inhabitants of the area of benefit in particular but not exclusively by the preservation, promotion, support, assistance and improvement of Hamworthy Park and other local open spaces”

If you are interested in working with us then please do get in touch. You can continue to donate online towards the paddling pool refurbishment project.
