Volunteer with friends of Hamworthy park

Make a difference in your local community, while enjoying fresh air, nature and friendly company.

How you can get involved…

Hamworthy Park is a special place, but it takes a community to keep it that way. Whether you can spare an hour or want to get more involved, there are lots of ways to help – either in a group or in your own time. Every effort makes a big difference.

Join our litter-picking group for a power hour every other saturday.

  • Takes place every other Saturday
  • Meet at 09:00am outside The Park Café – we provide litter pickers and bags
  • Enjoy a fun and social way to make a visible difference
  • Just one hour makes a huge impact

Come along, bring a friend, and start your weekend with a good deed.

Litter pick on your own time – borrow our equipment

Contact us to borrow equipment on a loan basis, or pick up a bin bag from the café. We ask for a returnable deposit to borrow litter pickers, hoops, and bags, so you can pick litter at your own convenience. Whether you’re walking your dog or enjoying a family stroll, grab some kit and help keep Hamworthy Park looking its best.

Tag us on Instagram @hamworthypark when you litter pick – we love to share your efforts.

Gardening & Park maintenance

Starting soon. Join our gardening and park maintenance sessions on alternating Mondays and Tuesdays at 9:30am.

  • No experience needed – just enthusiasm
  • Meet new people while helping the park flourish

More opportunities…

Support Events and fundraising

Throughout the year, we run events to raise funds for the park, from summer fetes to winter markets. Volunteers help with event set up and logistics, running stalls and activities and handling transport and equipment.

If you love organising events, baking cakes, making crafts, or simply lending a hand, we’d love to hear from you.

Group volunteering – get your team involved

Are you part of a youth or sports group, business, school, or community organisation looking for a meaningful way to give back? Friends of Hamworthy Park can offer a range of projects for your team to work on, from gardening and conservation, to event set up and management.

With our onsite Cafe and South Coast Adventure, you could even spend the whole day and build a unique outdoor experience for your team.

Become a trustee – help lead our charity!

We’re looking for motivated leaders with experience in management, finance, community work or charity governance to join our Board of Trustees.

  • Help shape the future of Hamworthy Park
  • Provide strategic leadership & fundraising oversight
  • Work alongside a passionate team

Trustees meet every 6 weeks, and your skills could make a huge impact on securing funding, running community initiatives and improving the park for future generations.
