The Friends of Hamworthy park in association with volunteers from St
Michael's church are meeting to get the Churchyard and surrounding area clean and litter free in time for the remembrance service the following Sunday.
It's a chance to get out in the fresh air and meet people who share an interest in caring for the wonderful green space that comprises Cobbs Lane and St Micheal's Churchyard and wood.
Litter pickers and bin bags will be provided - please wear sensible shoes and bring a pair of gloves if you have them.

On Sat Feb 9th, 10.00-12.00, we are litter picking from Boots and McCalls along the Blandford Road towards the Hamworthy Dental Practice.
We are also hoping to do a spot of gardening and get the planters outside Boots/McCalls back into some kind of order.
Due to the proximity to a big road, this pick is not recommended for smaller children. But older children with responsible adults are welcome.

The annual FOHP AGM will take place on Thursday, 11th April, 7.00pm at Hamworthy Library. With the paddling pool refurbishment underway, this will be an opportunity to discuss future projects for the park and other local green spaces.

Plants, planters, bit and bobs for your garden - get ready for the growing season with the annual plant sale.
It's time for the annual park fete. This daytime event features a variety of children’s games and rides, along with numerous stalls. There will be music and a children’s entertainer. All-in-all, a great family day in the park!

Meet 10.00am on the lane at the side of St Michael's Churchyard (Cobb's lane - next to the Red Lion). We will be litter picking the woodland and Churchyard - if we have the numbers and the time, we will also pick around the shops and Doctor's Surgery.
As well as litter picking, you can learn all about the Bluebell Woods project and have the opportunity to help clear the woodland of invasive species - full equipment and training is provided - just wear sensible shoes.

Since our last public meeting, the paddling pool has opened! This means we are now free to pursue other projects.
So there will be plenty to talk about as we plan the next steps for our wonderful park, including painting the fence and getting the wall around the paddling pool repaired.
As well as our regular Wednesday volunteers, we'll be running our autumn/winter series of litter picks starting in September.

There are some dedicated individuals who look after this area - we are going to give them a helping hand by removing as much litter as possible from the alleyway, Hoyal Road zig-zag and giving the area a good once over with the litter pickers.

With the last two Wednesdays falling on the most important days of the festive season, it has been understandable that volunteer numbers have been a bit lower than usual. Nevertheless, litter picking in the park has continued over the holiday as has clearing up poo after irresponsible dog owners. We even managed a bit of gardening. …
